The Lake
Lake Keitele is the heart of the village — a source of silence and open water.
Viitasaari, Central Finland.
Suovanlahti is a village in Viitasaari, at the heart of Central Finland. Here, lake and field exist side by side — and so do the people.
The village has a long history of doing things together. The community hall has stood as a gathering place for generations. Back in the late 1800s, the miller's wife Iita served coffee to farmers waiting for their grain to be milled at Myllytupa — and from that small act of hospitality, a story began that continues to this day.
History here isn't a burden. It's a foundation to build from. Suovanlahti doesn't move backwards — it builds continuity.
Lake Keitele is the heart of the village — a source of silence and open water.
Open fields give space to the landscape — and the landscape gives space to thought.
A century of gatherings, celebrations and shared work.
Summer café and home of the Traktorijatzit festival. A meeting place full of sound, every summer.
